[1st Series (native paper, perforated)] Overview

The 1st series, issued June Meiji 6 (1873), consists of six denominations, e.g. 1 Sen, 5 Sen, 10 Sen, 25 Sen, 50 Sen and 1 Yen.

All revenue stamps were printed on native paper (Japanese paper, or "rice paper") and rouletted.
The higher denominations (25 Sen, 50 Sen, 1 Yen) are of larger format, which have been reduced in size shortly after the issue.

Details of each revenue stamp will be described as individual "items", following this overview.
